The World Library Day has been celebrated internationally in different parts of the World since 1897. In Uganda, the Library Day was first celebrated by Makerere University Library (MakLib) on 22nd May 2009. The second Library Day was celebrated on 23rd May 2010. The third Library Day was celebrated on 31st May, 2011. Since then, it has become an annual event.This year’s celebrations will be held on Wednesday, 30th May 2012. The theme of the day will be: “Makerere University Library: Inspiring, Surprising and Empowering”.
